A mirrored lake reflects noble steeds, and verdant fields bear the imprint of riders’ hooves. From May 16 to 18, the 2025 China Endurance Equestrian Tour (Chaobai River Leg), together with the 40 km and 80 km Qualifying Races, kicked off in high spirits along the banks of the Chaobai River in Dachang Hui Autonomous County. This was not only a grand sporting spectacle, but also a vivid experiment in how the county is pioneering a new track for event-driven economic development by deeply integrating “events + culture & tourism.”

The event was organized by the China Equestrian Association and strictly followed the FEI’s latest 2025 competition rules. Its authority and professionalism drew 215 horse-and-rider combinations from 21 provinces and municipalities nationwide, plus Hong Kong SAR. Three disciplines were contested: the 100 km Endurance Tour (individual), and the 40 km and 80 km Qualifying Races. Fierce competition captured the attention of equestrian fans and general spectators alike.
Moreover, this high-profile event served as a powerful magnet, drawing people, goods, and information from across China. The arrival of professional riders, horses, and support teams stimulated local hotels, restaurants, and transport services. Live media coverage and online promotion broadcast “Dachang – Chaobai River” to the nation and beyond, elevating the region’s visibility and reputation, and laying a solid foundation for future tourism development and industry investment.
Thanks to its uniquely rich ecological environment, the Chaobai River Scenic Area provided a one-of-a-kind eco-track for this equestrian event. The course weaves through the core ecological belt, passing the Chaobai Sand Beach, Sakura Park, and a ten-thousand-acre ginkgo forest—iconic landscapes of Dachang—and links up with the picturesque villages of Qigezhuang Town. Riders and horses galloped through these idyllic scenes, creating a living tableau of “harmony between horse, rider, and nature.”
This distinctive track offered competitors a special athletic experience and delivered a dual sensory feast—both visual and spiritual—for spectators and tourists. During the event, visitors flocked to watch from roadside viewing points, camp in Sakura Park, and take commemorative photos in the ginkgo forest. By deeply integrating the competition with cultural-tourism resources, the Chaobai River Scenic Area’s ecological assets truly came to life—transforming “beautiful resources” into “beautiful economy” and fully unleashing the economic value of local ecology.
To maximize the event’s impact, Dachang Hui Autonomous County orchestrated a multi-dimensional program around the competition. A series of cultural performances enriched the audience’s experience; Sakura Park’s camping grounds and sponsor exhibition areas provided leisure and shopping venues; and media broadcasts and tourism promotions allowed people nationwide to virtually savor the equestrian charm and local customs.
In addition, the event was organically paired with park cycling in Sakura Park, intangible-heritage craft markets, and other activities, forging an immersive and diversified cultural-tourism experience. This broad integration extended visitor stays and expanded consumption scenarios. Beyond watching the races, tourists sampled local specialties, purchased artisanal goods, and tasted Dachang cuisine—forming a complete event-economy consumption chain. Centered on the equestrian competition, this synergy among tourism, commerce, and dining injected fresh momentum into the county’s high-quality economic development.
The successful hosting of the 2025 China Endurance Equestrian Tour (Chaobai River Leg) marks Dachang Hui Autonomous County’s pioneering achievement in event-driven economic exploration. By creating the “Chaobai River Equestrian IP,” the county has not only showcased its unique identity but also activated the economic value of its ecological resources through “equestrian + culture & tourism” integration—spurring growth in equestrian training, horse breeding, themed tourism, and related industries. Looking ahead, Dachang Hui Autonomous County will continue to leverage “event economy” as its core engine and actively explore new pathways for county-level high-quality development in “sports + culture & tourism + industry.”
