To further advance the development of the auxiliary area of the SCO Ice and Snow Sports Demonstration Zone, stimulate the vitality of the ice-and-snow economy through winter sports, and continue to build Qiqihar into a premier base for ice-and-snow events, the China–Shanghai Cooperation Organization Ice and Snow Sports Demonstration Zone Ice Hockey Tournament (Qiqihar) took place from August 16 to 18 at the Heilongjiang Figure Skating Arena. Nearly 100 athletes competed fiercely in four thrilling matches.

The tournament received strong support from the ice hockey federations of SCO member states and attracted clubs from Russia, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan. Notably, the clubs from Mongolia and Uzbekistan participated in competitions in China for the very first time.

The event was hosted by the Qiqihar Municipal People’s Government, with support from the Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Heilongjiang Provincial People’s Government, and organized by the Heilongjiang Social Sports and Chess & Card Sports Administration Center, the Qiqihar Municipal Sports Bureau, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Qiqihar Municipal People’s Government, and Shengshi (Heilongjiang) Ice and Snow Sports Co., Ltd.

This tournament marked the opening event of the 2025 Qiqihar Ice Hockey Season & Hecheng International Ice Hockey Invitational Tournament. Upcoming competitions will include the China-Russia Women’s Ice Hockey Challenge, youth ice hockey games, and amateur adult ice hockey matches, which will once again ignite the passion of the “City of Ice Hockey.”
