At the invitation of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, a Fujian provincial sports delegation, comprising football and taekwondo teams, visited Macao from August 22 to 25 for a four-day exchange program aimed at promoting coordinated development of sports in both regions.

On the football pitch, players put their training to the test through competitive matches, exchanging tactical ideas in fast-paced transitions. In the taekwondo arena, athletes explored training approaches through technical contests while demonstrating their fighting spirit. Off the field, coaches and experts from both sides held in-depth discussions on youth development systems, scientific training models, and competition management. By sharing advanced experiences in talent cultivation and performance enhancement, they laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Beyond sports, the delegation also joined cultural exchange activities, visiting the Patriotic and Macao-Loving Youth Education Base and the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao. Through exhibitions of photos, texts, and artifacts, they gained deeper insights into Macao’s history and patriotic traditions, and experienced the profound affection of Macao compatriots for the motherland. The exchanges further strengthened cultural identity and patriotic sentiment among young people from both regions, building a bridge of friendship that enhances mutual understanding and drives deeper cultural integration.

Since the signing of the Fujian–Macao Sports Exchange and Cooperation Agreement in 2012, cooperation between the two sides has flourished. Fujian and Macao have actively carried out talent exchanges, co-hosted competitions, and shared resources in sports including baseball, basketball, swimming, dragon and lion dance, and motor racing. Notably, the Fujian–Hong Kong–Macao–Taiwan “United Cup” Basketball Invitational has become a flagship event of Fujian’s sports exchanges, with its two successful editions showcasing the vitality of regional collaboration. Earlier in June, the Pingtan–Macao Sports Month expanded cooperation through a wide array of events—such as football, baseball, tennis, basketball, and touring car championships—further broadening the scope and deepening the substance of sports exchanges between the two regions.
