35-year-old Asian sprint icon Su Bingtian is set to lead the charge in the men’s 100m event! On June 18, the 5th leg of the 2025 China National Athletics Grand Prix will officially commence at the main stadium of the Qingdao Guoxin Sports Center. Over the course of three days, approximately 1,300 athletes and coaches from 36 teams across the country will gather in Qingdao to compete fiercely in 43 athletic events.
As one of the highest-level annual athletics competitions in China, the National Athletics Grand Prix plays a key role in preparing for international events and selecting top talent. It also serves as a crucial platform to assess training results ahead of the 15th National Games. This promises to be a spectacular and star-studded athletics showcase—with 35-year-old Su Bingtian headlining the men’s 100m, joined by top athletes such as Liang Jinsheng, Shao Yuqi, Wang Wenjie, Chen Guanfeng, Lin Yuwei, and Xu Zhuoyi, as well as numerous current record holders, all demonstrating the Olympic spirit of “Faster, Higher, Stronger—Together.”

The competition features a full slate of track and field events for both men and women, including: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, 3000m steeplechase, men's 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4×100m relay, 4×400m relay, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, hammer throw, decathlon, and 4×400m mixed relay.
This event is hosted by the Chinese Athletics Association, supported by the Shandong Provincial Sports Bureau, and organized by the Shandong Athletics Management Center, Shandong Athletics Association, and Qingdao Sports Bureau. It is co-organized by the Qingdao Sports Development Center and Qingdao Sports Development Group Co., Ltd., and executed by Guoxin Sports Event Operations Co., Ltd. and Qingdao Athletics Association.

Following the successful hosting of the 4th leg of the National Athletics Grand Prix in 2024, Qingdao has once again become a competitive stage for China’s top athletes, thanks to its outstanding event management capabilities and strong sports atmosphere. This leg of the Grand Prix serves as a qualifier for the National Athletics Championships and Grand Prix Final, and is also a ranking event for the National Games athletics program—an important opportunity for athletes to achieve qualifying standards and accumulate ranking points. As seen in the previous four legs, both the scale of participation and the level of competition have reached new heights. The fifth leg is expected to bring Qingdao an exciting and vibrant athletics feast.
