On April 23, the second meeting of the 10th General Assembly of the Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA) was held in Beijing. During the meeting, the resignation of Liu Guoliang from his position as CTTA President was reviewed and approved. Wang Liqin was elected as the new President, with Gao Yuanyi and Ma Long appointed as Vice Presidents, marking a mid-term leadership transition within the association.

Liu Guoyong, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, attended the meeting and, on behalf of the administration's Party Leadership Group, highly praised Liu Guoliang's outstanding contributions to Chinese table tennis. He noted that Liu had participated in eight consecutive Olympic Games and, through years of dedication and hard work, had led the Chinese national team to consistent victories on the international stage, significantly enhancing China's voice and influence in the global table tennis arena.
In order to ensure continuity throughout the preparation cycle for the Los Angeles Olympic Games, Liu Guoliang voluntarily stepped down as CTTA President to facilitate a smooth generational transition and promote innovative development in the sport. The administration expressed hope that under the new leadership, the CTTA will continue to uphold the legacy of table tennis excellence and strive relentlessly towards building China into a global sporting powerhouse.
Liu Guoliang stated that he will continue to play an active role in supporting the development of Chinese table tennis and contributing to the broader sports sector. Wang Liqin expressed his commitment to carrying forward the national mission of Team China, dedicating full efforts to preparations for the Los Angeles Olympics, and contributing to the advancement of table tennis and the goal of building a strong sports nation.
