On April 17, 2025, the China U-16 women's national football team claimed a 2-1 victory over Sweden in the Montaigu Cup International Football Tournament held in France.

China took the initiative early in the match and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Liu Yuke scored directly from a free kick, giving China a 1-0 lead.

After the break, the Chinese side maintained their attacking momentum. In the 57th minute, a quick counterattack from the left wing saw Ye Xinyi’s shot blocked by the goalkeeper, but Liu Yuke was quick to react and netted the rebound, extending the lead to 2-0.

Sweden pulled one back in the 76th minute through Andreé, but the score remained 2-1 in favor of China until the final whistle.

After two rounds of group play, both China and Mexico have accumulated six points. Their goal difference and total goals scored are also identical (matches involving a bye are recorded as a 3-0 result). The decisive match for the top spot in the group—and a ticket to the final—will take place on April 19 (Beijing time), when China faces Mexico.
