At the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup held in Doha last weekend, the Chinese gymnastics team secured one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. Three athletes represented China, with You Hao clinching the gold medal in the rings event.

China sent three athletes to compete in the Doha World Cup: You Hao, Hong Yanming, and Tang Qi. Veteran gymnast You Hao, who is about to turn 33, made a return to the international stage after more than a year, while young talents Hong Yanming and Tang Qi made their World Cup debuts.

As the silver medalist in the rings at the Tokyo Olympics, You Hao has remained a strong contender in this event. In the final, he performed the same 5.7-difficulty routine as in the qualifications and scored 14.400 points — the highest of the competition — making his gold medal well-deserved. With over a decade of international experience, You Hao continues to demonstrate remarkable competitive form and unwavering passion for gymnastics.

Nineteen-year-old Hong Yanming impressed in his first World Cup appearance with maturity and composure beyond his age. He ranked third in the pommel horse qualification round with a 5.6-difficulty routine, and then raised the difficulty to 5.8 in the final, scoring 14.666 points and claiming the silver medal. Notably, he was just 0.034 points behind the Armenian gold medalist, sparking high expectations for his future achievements on the international stage.

Tang Qi, who barely qualified for the horizontal bar final in eighth place with a score of 11.766 due to major errors in the qualification round, delivered a surprising performance in the final. As the first competitor to take the stage, he confidently showcased his routine with smooth rhythm and clean execution of big release and flight elements. With a 5.4-difficulty routine, he scored 14.000 points and earned a hard-fought bronze medal.
