The Chinese Football Association has recently announced the roster for the fourth training camp of the China Women’s National Football Team. This session will run from May 17 to June 2. After assembling in Shanghai on May 17, the team will travel to the United States for overseas training and to participate in an invitational tournament.
The national team has already completed three previous training camps this year. The first was held in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, starting on January 7 for a duration of 17 days, focusing on team cohesion and developing new talent. On February 4, the team conducted its second training camp in Spain, playing several matches against local clubs to consolidate the results of winter training and build match experience. The third camp began on March 24 in Chongqing, during which the team competed in the Yongchuan International Women’s Football Invitational Tournament, securing the championship title for a record seventh time with wins over Uzbekistan, Zambia, and Thailand. Players such as Zhang Xin, Li Mengwen, and Shao Ziqin delivered standout performances. Through the first three training camps, the national squad has gradually solidified, with young players excelling in both training and matches, and the team's overall chemistry significantly improved.
According to the 24-player roster for the fourth training camp, the goalkeeper lineup remains unchanged, featuring Zhu Yu, Xu Huan, and Pan Hongyan. Born in 1997, Zhu Yu has been selected for the national team multiple times since 2016 and is considered the undisputed first-choice keeper due to her excellent reflexes, accurate judgment, and consistent performances. Xu Huan, born in 1999, was included in China’s squad for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and has since impressed in various competitions with her solid technical abilities. Pan Hongyan, born in 2004, is a promising young talent noted for her height and outstanding physical attributes.
In the defensive lineup, two players—Wang Siqian from Shanghai and Zeng Yujia from Beijing—are absent from this session, while Zhai Qingwei from Jiangsu Wuxi returns to the squad. Born in 1996, Zhai made her national team debut in 2019 and participated in the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers, having started in multiple matches. Other defenders continuing in the squad include Wang Linlin, Li Mengwen, Dou Jiaxing, Qiao Ruiqi, Wu Haiyan, and Chen Qiaozhu.
In midfield, Shen Mengyu, currently playing for London City Lionesses, has been selected. She joined Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC Women in 2021 and helped the team win the league title. In 2024, she transferred to the London-based club and has extensive international experience with the national team. Zhang Xin, who impressed during the third training camp, remains on the roster, alongside players such as Wang Aifang, Wang Yanwen, and Zhi Jie. The midfielders’ performances in the upcoming training and matches will be highly anticipated.
Leading the attack are Shao Ziqin, Tang Jiali, and Wang Shuang. The inclusion of young forwards Jin Kun and Yao Mengjia will offer the head coach more tactical options in the front line.
